Bluffton boys 3rd in golf sectionals

ARLINGTON - The Bluffton boys golf team made it to districts by finishing third in the 13-team Div. III sectional tournament at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Course Thursday.
By finishing in the top three, the Pirate boys qualified to district play next week. The top three teams and top three individuals not from qualifying teams will compete at the DIv. III districts October 3.
Van Buren won the sectional event with 349 strokes, followed closely by Allen East (350) and Bluffton (357).
Drew Wilson led the NWC champion Pirates with an 18-hole score of 44-40=84.
Zach Miller of Allen East was sectional champion with a score of 38-39=77. A.J. Overmyer of VB tied with Ethan Tanner of fourth-place Carey for tournament second medalist honors with rounds of 81.

The Pirate boys will play next at the Stone Ridge Div. III district meet Oct. 3.
Two Bluffton girls golfers competed in the Div. II sectionals Wednesday at Moose Landing Country Club.
Wayne Trace won the team title, followed by Fairview and Van Buren. The top three teams and three golfers from non-qualifying teams made it to districts.
Lady Pirate Allison Burgaze finished 37th with an 18-hole score of 135. Teammate Jocelyn Ochoa came in 40th with a round of 140.
