People are slowly disappearing in Bluffton, claims weight-loss group
Members of a weight loss group that meets once a week in Bluffton, says that their success is undeniable.
They meet at 6 p.m., Tuesdaya, using the south entrance to the basement of St. John’s United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., with an attendance averaging between 12 and 15. The group is TOPS, which means “Take Off Pounds Sensibly.”
The nationwide organization was founded by 1948. In 2018, the Bluffton chapter as a whole lost 213 pounds. In 2019, to date has accumulated a loss of 195 pounds.
The club is open to all ages and genders.
A weekly weigh in, along with a food log, keeps members accountable. Discussions are supportive and educational.
Once a goal weight is achieved, the member graduates to KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) and will maintain their weight per the guidelines.
KOPS members continue to attend and are very supportive to those still working on their weight loss. The Bluffton chapter currently has three KOPS.
