$45,000 police cruiser expected in 2020
See the attached council packet at the bottom of this story.
Bluffton council will consider a request for a new $45,000 village police cruiser at the Monday, Oct. 14, council meeting. The council’s finance and safety committee, meeting Oct. 9, reviewed the police department request for the expenditure.
The village follows a 10-year capital budget plan for the police equipment. A 2020 cruiser is part of that 10-year budget. Several additional budget items were reviewed on Oct. 9. Those items will be discussed this evening.
$141,076 manhole project
Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, will report on the manhole rehabilitation project. The project cost $141,076, which is nearly $11,000 under the budgeted estimate.
Sixty-two manholes were rehabilitated. The work reduces inflow and infiltration to the water collection system. See the chart at the bottom of the story.
103-County Line Road intersection
Blackburn will also report on improvements made at the State Route 103 and County Line intersection.
Those improvements include removal of a utility pole relating to the removal of the flashing light at the intersection. New road signage now highlights a 35-mile- per-hour intersection speed limit approached from the east.
A solar-powered radar speed sign is yet to be installed on SR 103 for traffic approaching County Line from the east.
ADA curb ramp work is underway. Twenty-six curb ramps are being installed this week.
Leaf pick up to begin
The village public works department is preparing equipment for leaf pick up, which could begin later this week. Residents are asked to place leaves in a long, narrow rows in the tree lawns or the edge of the street.
