Let's all start growing beards
Bluffton male police officers, along with several other village employees decided to quit shaving in November.
Instead they will participate in a nationwide No-Shave November fund-raiser.
According to www.no-shave.org: “The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.
"Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.”
It all came about after several members of the police department approached Police Chief Ryan Burkholder about participating and he agreed. It was decided that funding will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the Fraternal Order of Police’s Shop with a Cop program.
So, on the first of November all participants will be allowed to grow facial hair as long as they have made a donation to one of the two charities.
At the end of the officer’s scheduled shift on Nov. 30, officers will shave for the first time in 30 days.
