20 semi-private rooms converted to private rooms at MHCO
As a result of recommendations from a recent market study, the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Board of Directors has decided to convert a portion its semi-private rooms to private rooms at two of its Skilled Nursing Facilities – Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton and Hilty Home in Pandora.
In all, 20 semi-private rooms across MHCO campuses were converted to private rooms effective Dec. 1, allowing a greater number of residents to enjoy private accommodations.
Background
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio provided one main service when starting out in 1955 – long-term care for senior citizens in a nursing-home setting.
At that time, it was the norm for nursing homes to have shared rooms. Since that time, its services have constantly evolved to remain relevant and to provide services people need.
Over the years, new services and innovations like Independent Living, Assisted Living and Home Health have reduced the need for nursing home beds and have required the organization to renovate, build new buildings and offer new services to accommodate new philosophies related to long-term care. The expectations of its residents and families has also changed over the years.
