2014 video is all about the Ream display
The Icon posts the video again as a
reminder of how the Blaze of
Lights came to be.
When Bob and Sue Fett's daughter, Maggie, was a Bluffton High School junior she created a four-minute video featuring the Bluffton Blaze of Lights as a multi-media project.
The video was part of a Univerity of Findlay college credit class taught by Jamie Erford at BHS.
"The project focused on small-town nostalgia," said Maggie. "I thought the Blaze would be a great idea for this project."
She said that the video took about a month and a half to complete.
For the video, Fett interviewed Fred Rodabaugh, Terry Mullenhour, Bill Thiesen and Fred Steiner.
It also also features John George at the end as the lights go on.
The video tells some of the history of the Harry and Dorothy Ream holiday folk art display, which is set up each November of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn.
It also explains how the community comes together to see that the display is put into place each year using volunteers.
For newcomers to the communitiy, the video is helpful explaining the history of the display. For that reason, The Icon has reposted the video below for viewers.
Background on Maggie Fett
Maggie graduated from BHS in 2015 and from Florida Gulf Coast University in August with a business major and human resources focus. She is in Bluffton this winter and intends to attend graduate school in the fall.
