Spencerville
Bluffton lost 39-31 at Spencerville this past Thursday evening to drop to 4-2 in Northwest Conference play. The Bearcats (9-6, 3-2 NWC) damaged the Pirate league title hopes with the minor upset.
Tied for second in the league standings with Paulding, Bluffton (8-2 home) hosts league-leader Columbus Grove (14-3, 5-0 NWC) in a key conference bout Thursday, January 30.
A Grove win would all but clinch the league title for CG with just two NWC games left against Allen East and Delphos Jefferson. The Lady Bulldogs already beat Spencerville 46-38 Jan. 16, and whipped Paulding 52-31 December 19.
