Pathway extension underway along North Bentley
Bluffton’s pedestrian and bike path way is moving ahead with its 2020 project, according to Richard Ramseyer, board chair.
This year’s project extends the North Bentley Road path from Richland Drive to Riley Street, on the east side of Bentley. Currently that area has no public sidewalks. This project involves five different contractors.
Here’s what taking place between Richland and Riley streets:
• North Bentley pathway extension is scheduled for construction in August.
• New Century Link and AEP will move utility poles to the edge of the road right-of-way.
• Allen County Engineer’s office will upgrade catch basin on both sides of the project area, and a new storm sewer line will be installed. During this step, Bentley Road will be closed as the storm sewer line is dug across the road.
• Village will install a new storm sewer along the pathway.
• Some fire hydrants will be moved out of the pathway.
Future pathway projects
• A study is underway for a west side County Line Road pathway between Cherry Street and State Route 103.
• In 2023 a federally-funded pathway project will take place on the south side of SR 103 from County Line Road toward the I-75 business district.
