Senior Center hopes for a July re-opening
Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., hopes to reopen sometime in July, according to Tonya Meyer, director.
“We have been in talks with the Ohio Department of Aging and the Ohio Senior Center Association to come up with best practices, she said, adding, “we hope to be able to open sometime in July.”
When the center finally is able to open, the first month will be one-on-one services only.
Examples:
• Enter the center for library material
• Riding the exercise bike
• Visit with staff
• Volunteering
The second month will allow programming to restart offering programs with small groups by reservation only, staying physically instance from one another.
Examples:
• BINGO
• Movies
• Crafts
Meyer said that the center is working on some of these programs so they can be ready for the reopening. She said that all center trips are canceled or postponed through the end of October.
“It is our hope to be able to celebrate the center’s 50th anniversary in November,” said Meyer. “We are working on some creative ways to do this.”
A center staff person is in the office each week day from 9 a.m. to noon.
