This should come as no surprise – 2020 Bluffton Community Swimming Pool receipts fell flat, thanks to covid-19.

According to a report by Bluffton council's parks and recreation board, initial pool receipt projections of $60,000 look more like $33,000.

Several village expenses came before Bluffton council on Monday.

The Bluffton Community Swimming Pool –  Some seams on the pool bottom are being replaced.

 An additional 4-inch equalization value is being added to the deep well to ensure pressure from water table does no further damage to the pool. 

In addition, the village is considering a new coat of paint for the pool. Total cost of concrete repair $26,100; cost of pool painting, $14,000.

Sanitary sewer collection system – The village prioritized areas of the system needing to be televised to assess future lining projects. Budget cut from $50,000 to $10,000.

Buckeye park spillway – Concrete additions are needed to reinforce the spillway between the Buckeye and Riley Creek, with Patriot Concrete performing the work. This repairs damage to the spillway is a result of a flood this spring. Total cost $15,000.

In earlier council action not previously reported in the Icon, the village renewed a five-year Hancock County mutual aid agreement covering January 2021 to December 2025.

Council also accepted the resignation of Holly Berka from its EMS squad. It also approved the promotion of Nicole Mikesell to EMS secretary/treasurer. Eric Mathewson was approved to be added to the EMS roster in a six-month probationary period.
