Oscar Velasquez shows his 2010 holiday painting in front of the public library, just at the spot where he depicts this year's scene. Velasquez unveiled his ninth Bluffton holiday painting at the Blaze of Lights. This year's scene is in honor of the library's 75th anniversary.
The original work is watercolor and acrylic. Art collectors have three print choices of the scene. Each print is signed.
The works are: 16 by 20 inch framed, for $79; 8 by 10 inch framed, for $29; or 10 by 13 inch unframed, for $29. Prints are available at Deer Creek Shoppes.
Residents have an opportunity to purchase the prints directly from the artist on Saturday, Dec. 11. He will perform Christmas music at the library during a visit by Santa Claus from noon to 1 p.m. When Santa departs, Velasquez will be available to sell prints.
In September, the Bluffton artist unveiled his historic Bluffton mural, located on the south side of Forever In Stitches. This fall, Velasquez completed an outdoor mural at Slick's Party Shop on State Route 81, outside Lima, near the Bath Township Fire Department.
He is currently working on smaller inside private commissions.
