Girls' soccer: Clinch NWC title with win over Bulldogs

ADA - The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team shut out Ada 5-0 on a wet Monday evening at the park as the Pirate girls clinched at least a tie for the Northwest Conference crown.
Bluffton improved to 8-2-1 overall and 6-0 in NWC play with their seventh consecutive win. Ada fell to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in NWC action with the defeat.
Laykin Garmatter and Reagan Mittendorf each netted a pair of goals to pace the Pirate girls to victory.
Garmatter scored the first two goals in the 12th and 24th minutes to give Bluffton a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Mittendorf extended the lead to 3-0 with a score in the 61st minute. Kendal Giesige found the back of the net six minutes later.
Mittendorf tallied the final goal in the 75th minute.
Mittendorf, Allison Diller and Lauren Rhodes each passed out one assist.
The Pirates fired 27 of their 41 shots on goal. Ada got off just three shots, one of which was on goal.
Bulldog junior keeper Olivia Green compiled a season-high 22 saves in goal. Julia Mehaffie made one stop for the victors.
Ada, which has lost five in a row, plays at Van Buren Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.
Bluffton visits Upper Sandusky Thursday, October 1.
