Bluffton girl kickers blank Kalida; improve to 10-2-1

KALIDA - The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team shut out Kalida 2-0 in a non-league game late Saturday morning.
Streaking Bluffton improved to 10-2-1 overall with their ninth consecutive win. Kalida fell to 6-6 with the defeat.
The match was scoreless in the first half.
Pirate Sami Scoles then struck for the game's first goal in the 61st minute. Clara Matthews followed with the second goal seven minutes later to put the game out of reach.
Rebekah Hoff passed out one assist for Bluffton.
The Pirates fired 11 of their 23 shots on target, while Kalida put both of their shots on goal.
Bluffton keeper Julia Mehaffie made two stops, and Kassidy Hipsher was credited with nine saves in goal for Kalida.
The Pirates next host local non-league rival Cory-Rawson (6-5) Thursday, October 8.
