Creativity is the word this Halloween
Thursday’s Bluffton trick-or-treat has a different feel from past years. Bluffton’s trick-or-treat hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday. Here are some updates.
While a contagious covid-19 is the real scary threat this year, creativity is at work.
A “residential reverse trick-or-treat” is planned from 5:30 to 6 p.m., before the village’s Halloween hours get underway. This is planned outside the retirement communities at Mennonite Home, Willow Ridge and Maple Crest.
Organizers include a group of families and friends of residents, including Ashley Fry, Mary Glick and Heidi Steiner, who invite Halloweeners to walk around outside these three senior communities. Residents will be watching from their windows.
Halloweens are encouraged to make signs and drop off candy at the front doors for residents. The lobbies of these three senior communities will not be open to accept Halloweeners.
Bluffton safety services will be cruising town offering handouts. Those include Bluffton police, Bluffton EMS and Bluffton fire department.
According to Jon Kinn, fire chief, at least one fire truck will be “shooting individually-wrapped candy from its fire hose.”
Three other traditional Halloween stops, Bluffton Public Library, Bluffton University and Bluffton Family Recreation will not be open for trick-or-treaters.
