Girls' holiday basketball tip off this weekend
Pirate girls open hoop season with tourney
By Cort Reynolds
Bluffton will once again host the annual McDonald's Holiday Tournament to tip off the girls basketball season this weekend.
The Lady Pirates will host local non-league rival Cory-Rawson in the second semifinal Friday night, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. That contest will be preceded by the opener at 5:30 p.m. between Allen East and defending tourney champion Arlington.
The third-place contest will be held Saturday at 5:30 p.m., followed by the championship game between the semifinal winners at 7:30 p.m.
Admission will be on a split session basis both nights.
C-R upset Bluffton last year in the semis. The Pirates rebounded to knock off AE in the consolation game.
Bluffton went on to post a solid 14-9 record last winter. The Pirate girls fell to Arlington in the sectional finals.
