"I had a flashback the other day when driving down Bluffton's Main Street. I was in the Green Hornet (our 1957 Nash) and pulling into the D&E Sinclair station at the corner of Main and College Avenue, where our public library now stands.
As I pulled up to the gas pump, Dean Nonnamaker, with a big smile on his face, ran out to the car before I could roll down the window.
I said, "Fill'er up," and while asking about the kids he was not only filling the gas tank, but washing the windows, lifting the hood to check the oil and kicking the tires to make sure the pressure was okay.
I handed him a five dollar bill and my loyalty was sealed before he could bring back the change. Now that was service!
