Sue Grove was involved in Bluffton schools, Bluffton College and was a downtown business owner
Former Bluffton High School art teacher, Marbeck Center program director, and later owner of Groves Quality Collectibles, Sue E. Groves, 89, died March 23, 2021, at her residence.
Sue was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Bluffton to the late Harold and Oda (Amstutz) Kempf. She was married to Robert Wilch who survives in Bluffton. On June 27, 1975, she married Don Groves who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2005.
Sue was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Bluffton College. She worked at Gerber's Studio and was program director at Bluffton College.
Sue was an art teacher at Bluffton High School retiring after 25 years. She belonged to the Bluffton Education Association, Ohio Education Association and Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Sue also worked at St. Rita's Medical Center, 2-West unit.
In 1978, she and her husband, Don, started Groves Quality Collectibles in Bluffton, which was Crow's Variety store at one time. In 2005-2006, she was a member of the National Registry of Who's Who in Executives and Professionals.
Sue was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima, and several volunteer programs including St. Vincent-DePaul and St. Rita's Volunteers and Auxiliary Programs.
Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Cabot of Lima, Penny Wilch-McGinn of Phoenix, Arizona; a granddaughter, Dallas Dunn of Bluffton and a sister, Jean (Carl) Ziessler of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Sue was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Sue Wilch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church - Lima. Father Kent Kaufman officiating.
Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bluffton University or St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
