Christmas from a second grader perspective

The Icon asked second graders in Bev Stockman's class what they think of when then think of Christmas. Here are their responses.

We have a lot of stuff to do in my house for Christmas. I love to see all kinds of things. I like to see the tree sparkle. I like to hear lots of bells. I like to smell pies and cakes. I like to taste cookies and strawberries. I like it feel snow and Santa's beard. I know Santa and I'll get presents. Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. I go to church on Christmas Eve. The best Christmas was in 2007. My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. This year there was no crowd when I went shopping. I think this Christmas will be the best.

These are my family traditions. First, I always go to the AT&T tower and go sledding. Then we decorate the house in many different ways. Then we make cookies. I love to smell cookies. We hang our stockings. Then we put our lights up. We eat cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then we open up our presents. I love Christmas.

My family celebrates Christmas this way. We always go to my grandma's house and bake cookies on Christmas Eve. I love hearing carolers, seeing family, smelling brownies, tasting hot cocoa and feeling Christmas trees. My brother loves playing with Emma. Christmas is the best holiday.

My cousins come to my house for Christmas. We open presents and get stuffed animals. Sometimes we wear our pajamas. Then we watch Will Farrell. Then we eat and play games. We sit around and talk. I love Christmas.

Christmas is a very special holiday! My favorite thing about Christmas is opening presents. My dad and I always hang Christmas lights around the house. Then my family puts up the tree. Then my sister and I hang stockings. Then every year we make cookies for Santa. That's what we do before Christmas!

We have Christmas traditions. We cut trees. Then we fix the thing that holds it. We play with my Wii. We make cookies. We go to my aunt's house and I play with my cousins. We go back to my house and play Yahtzee. We have fun.
