Elizabeth "Liz" Leightner was a 1953 Pandora-Gilboa graduate
Elizabeth P. "Liz" Leightner, age 86, went to see Jesus at 1:25 am Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.
Liz was born January 17, 1935 at home in Pandora, OH, to the late J.H. and Metta (Welty) Probst. On June 19, 1978 she married the love of her life, Wesley A. "Wes" Leightner.
Liz was a 1953 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School. Liz had previously worked at Triplett Industries in Bluffton and she had worked as a custodian at St. John Mennonite Church in Pandora and the First National Bank of Pandora. She enjoyed working around the house, gardening and watching Christian television and attending Christian concerts. Liz liked to travel, having traveled to Israel in 1968, Ukraine in 1993 and Belize in 1994. She and her husband enjoyed Caribbean cruises, sightseeing in San Francisco and New York City and traveling in their RV to Mexico and Florida. She especially loved spending time with her husband, family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Wesley A. "Wes" Leightner of Pandora; brother-in-law, James (Dotty) Leightner of Pandora and two sisters-in-law, Linda Leightner - Tuttle of Atlanta, GA, and Anne Kienlen of Falls Church, VA, several nieces, nephews and cousins
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three Brothers, Sherwood (Roma) Probst, Dwight (Ruth) Probst, Herbert (Carol) Probst, and a sister, Maurine (Austin) Shelton.
Services will be held at a later date.
CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, BLUFFTON CHAPEL is entrusted with the Leightner family arrangements.
