Ellen A. Johnson was LPN at Bluffton Hospital
Ellen A. Johnson, 96, passed away September 20, 2021 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Ellen was born February 4, 1925 in Bluffton to the late Ezra and Irene (Fogelsonger) Basinger. On August 26, 1944 she married Ivan Johnson who preceded her in death on April 4, 1985.
Ellen was a graduate of Bluffton High School and the Bluffton Hospital Nursing School. She was an LPN at Bluffton Hospital. Ellen was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church, Bluffton.
Survivors include two children, Richard (Ruth) Johnson of Bluffton, Ellen (Larry) Core of Bluffton; five grandchildren, Karen Core, Kathy (Tim) Soper, Cindy (Dennis) Lee, Angela (Jacob) Carr, Kaydrie (Eric) Rayle, ten great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Carson Soper, Matthew (Annette) Lee, Andrew Lee, Nicholas, Ethan and Emma Beach, Nathaniel and Haelee Rayle; a great-great granddaughter, Gabriella Lee; a sister, Ann Dunifon of Bluffton; a sister-in-law, Mabel Basinger of Bluffton and several nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Basinger and Hubert Basinger and a brother-in-law, Ralph Dunifon.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Reformed Mennonite Church, Bluffton, pastor Jim Basinger officiating. Burial will be in Reformed Mennonite Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services-Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Reformed Mennonite Church or Bluffton Hospital.
