Franklin sweeps Beavers in three sets
The Bluffton University volleyball team came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 sweep at Franklin College on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. The Grizzlies improved to 9-11 and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton slipped to 9-13 and 1-2 in the HCAC.
Franklin won 25-22 and 25-20 before Bluffton pushed the third set to the brink, but the home team scored five of the last six points en route to a 27-25 victory in the capper.
Junior Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) lit up the Grizzlies with eight kills against no errors for a whopping .444 hitting percentage. She was also in on four blocks. Alysha Like (McComb) and Maddie White (Ashland) went for seven and six kills, respectively.
White and Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay) dished out 13 assists apiece. Senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) swept up a match-high 25 digs at Franklin. Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) just missed double figures with nine digs, while White and Price added eight pickups apiece. Like stuffed the home team with six blocks and White, who fired a pair of aces, chipped in with four block assists.
Bluffton wraps up its three-match road trip when the Beavers head to Anderson University on Wednesday, Oct. 13. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
