Hanover rolls to Sommer Center sweep
The Bluffton University volleyball team had no answers for Hanover Head Coach Pete Preocanin and his Panthers on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. Bluffton fell to 9-15 overall and 1-4 in the Heartland Conference, while Hanover improved to 12-8 and 4-1 in the HCAC.
Hanover mowed down the Beavers in the first two sets (25-18 and 25-12) before Bluffton nearly avoided the sweep with a 25-22 setback in the clinching set.
Senior Cassidy Posey (Paulding) smacked a team-best 11 kills for the home team. Chiming in with a .381 hitting percentage thanks to nine kills and just one error was junior Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) who was also in on three blocks. Sophomore Alysha Like (McComb) added six winners to the Bluffton kills column.
Maddie White (Ashland) dished out 20 assists and came up with five digs. Senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) gave it her all with 24 digs, while Kia Rainey (Adrian, MI/Madison) and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) picked up seven digs apiece.
Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Oct. 20, when the Beavers welcome another Heartland Conference heavyweight, Mount St. Joseph, for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
