Anderson women take down Bluffton 5-2
The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 5-2 decision to Anderson University on a beautiful Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021. Bluffton fell to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the Heartland Conference following the Senior Day setback. Anderson improved to 6-5-2 and 5-0-1 in the HCAC.
Trailing 2-0 coming out of the break, Bluffton cut its deficit in half when senior Shawn Broadhurst (Belleville, MI/Belleville) delivered a strike to Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) who drove home her second goal of the season.
Junior Frankie Hamilton (Ashland/Mapleton) netted her third tally of the year with just over a minute to play, but it wasn't enough as Anderson's three second-half goals made the final score 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
McGinn topped the Bluffton strikers with five shots. Senior Ashton Curnutte (Urbana) racked up 11 saves for the home team.
Anderson piled up a 29-14 advantage in shots, including 16-6 on frame. The Ravens forced seven of the eight corner kicks in the match. Bluffton was whistled for seven more fouls (12-5).
