Lady Pirates wallop Mansfield St. Peter's in sectional match
The Bluffton girls soccer team dominated Mansfield St. Peter's 11-1 in a Div. III sectional first round mismatch Tuesday night, October 19, at home at Steinmetz Field.
The Pirate girls improved to 13-3-1 with the lopsided victory.
Third-seeded Bluffton advances to take on the winner between second-seeded Mansfield Christian and sixth seed Riverdale in the district semifinals at Bluffton on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Eight Pirate girls scored in the blowout win.
Sami Scoles, Riley Eachus and Marley Kindle each netted a pair of goals to pace the victors. Reagan Mittendorf and Karson Hauenstein each scored a goal and doled out two assists.
Mittendorf started the onslaught with a goal in the eighth minute off an Olivia Matthews assist. Scoles then made it 2-0 in the 10th minute from an Ella Armstrong feed.
Jordan Schweingruber made it 3-0 with a 16th minute goal. Kindle then scored consecutive goals in the 19th and 20th minutes, the second on a Jordyn O'Connel pass.
Armstrong scored two minutes later via a Hauenstein dish to advance the lead to 6-0. Scoles netted her second goal in the 25th minute to make it 7-0, where the score remained until intermission.
Eachus resumed the offensive outburst with a goal three minutes into the second half from Allison Diller. Eachus extended the margin to 9-0 on another netter 11 minutes later from Mittendorf.
Hauenstein tallied in the 56th minute from Mittendorf again for a 10-0 cushion.
MSP's Lily Colarosa got the visitors on the scoreboard with their lone goal in the 66th minute.
Emma Miller netted the last Pirate goal in the 68th minute from Hauenstein.
The Pirate offense peppered MSP with 50 shots, 22 of which were on goal. The visitors got off 10 shots, five of which were on goal.
Pirate junior keeper Julia Mehaffie made four saves in goal. The MSP keeper stopped 10 Pirate shots.
