Frederick Lyle Arnold worked for the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture
Frederick Lyle Arnold, 92, passed away December 31, 2021 at Lima Memorial Health System. Fred was born May 10, 1929 in Lima to the late Merril and Velma (Yant) Arnold. On January 18, 1959 he married Pat Marquart Arnold.
Fred graduated from Beaverdam High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Fred was a life-long farmer and worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture where he served in many positions and had also worked for the Ohio Auditor. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. Fred served on the Allen County Fair Board for 27 years, was a past president of the Ohio Fair Managers Association, past board member of the Bluffton School Board, past president of the Beaverdam Elevator Board and served on the Richland Township Zoning Committee. He was a member of the Bluffton American Legion #382 and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Lima Masonic Lodge #205. Fred enjoyed golfing, the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Arnold of Cairo; four children, Debby Hilty of Lafayette, Mark (Sherry) Arnold of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Ann (David) Jones of Beaverdam, Lyle (Emily) Arnold of Peoria, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Dan (Kim) Hilty, Diane Hilty, Denise McKenzie, Doug (Vicki) Hilty, Melanie (Michael) Cullen, Will (Landra) Houston, Louise Jones, Bob Jones, Paul Pritton, Christopher Pritton, Jacob Arnold; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son and infant daughter.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastors Paul Sonddy and Jeremy Mann officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Lima. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice or Bluffton American Legion Post #382.
