The answers to the following questions are nobody’s business but your own. If you can answer yes to any of these questions, it may be time you took a serious look at what this behavior might be doing to your life.
Questions to help you decide if you have D.A.B. (Damaging Addictive Behavior):
- Do you use this behavior because you have problems?
- Do you use this behavior to avoid facing stressful situations?
- Do you use this behavior when you get mad at friends or family?
- Do you often prefer to do this behavior alone, rather than with others?
- Is your school work or job suffering because of this behavior?
- Do you ever try to stop or do less of this behavior – and fail?
- Is this behavior damaging your health or causing financial problems?
- Do you avoid being honest with others about your use of this behavior?
- Do you use this behavior to avoid responsibilities?
- While this behavior might be normal, do you ever spend too much time using this behavior?
- Does this behavior ever get you into any kind of trouble?
- Do you sometimes or often feel ashamed by your use of this behavior?
