“Out of the Blue” exhibit on campus
Sauder Visual Arts Center at Bluffton University is hosting Melissa Vogley Woods’ "out of the blue" art collection through February 18.
A reception with the artist will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery. Parking is available off Spring St. near College Ave. Masks are required.
In the artist’s words: “My visual artwork exists in a research-adjacent multi-disciplinary realm manifesting as illusionistically contorted and perverted reclamation. I reimagine and claim for myself, dominant, often masculine historical, artistic production. I collaborate with the past through a process of fragmentation, reclamation, re-performance, and embodiment. I reclaim this historical production to dispel the ideas that history is in the past. History reverberates and repeats -- it stays with us, and we carry it through generations. My mission is to reach back into the nebulous sea of history and find an oar to guide our way through our present.”
