P-G boys defeat McComb, 54-42
The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team (8-0 BVC, 4-1 PCL, 13-6) went to McComb and picked up a win on February 11, ending their two-game losing streak. The Blanchard Valley Conference game ended with the score 54-42.
The win keeps P-G undefeated atop the BVC standings with one big conference game remaining on Saturday, February 19 at home against Liberty-Benton (7-1).
P-G led the entire game, quickly flying ahead of the home team 13-2 and leading 18-7 after one quarter of action. The lead shrank to 32-25 at the halftime intermission as P-G remained in control, with an 8-15 (53%) effort from 3-point land.
A trio of Rockets spearheaded the offensive attack, hitting double digit scoring. Senior Dillon Krohn’s game high 17 points led the way, as he knocked down four 3-pointers. Fellow classmate Ryan Johnson poured in 14 points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and sophomore Aiden Harris added 12, making one shot from behind the arc.
The second half proved to be more of the same, with P-G slightly extending their advantage, outscoring the Panthers (4-4 BVC, 7-14), 22-18 in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Sophomore Colin Harris chipped in 7 points for the victors, making one shot from 3-point range, while senior Will Huffman and sophomore Aidan Morris each connected on one shot from the floor for 2 points apiece.
P-G will travel to Fort Jennings (1-4 PCL, 5-15) on February 12 for a Putnam County League contest. P-G will strive to remain in a three-way tie with Columbus Grove and Leipsic atop the PCL standings.
Looking ahead, the Rockets will host Putnam County League rival Continental (1-5 PCL, 6-14) on Thursday night Feb. 17.
