Bluffton women take 14 seconds off 200 Yd Medley time
Day two of the Heartland Conference Swimming and Diving Championships saw two 5th place finishes for Bluffton University and another school record hit the bricks. Bluffton remains in 5th place as a team, standing ahead of both Manchester and Hanover as the meet is rounding the final curve.
The 200 Yard Medley Relay knocked almost 14 seconds off the school record that had stood for nearly three months as the team of MacKenzie Martin (Hartville/Lake), Brooke Barnes (Ashland/Crestview), Isabel Miller (Dayton/Centerville) and Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) racked up 24 points on Friday evening. Bluffton's time of 2:11.50 was just over four seconds away from 4th place.
Kleman added 12 points with a 5th place in the 100 yard breaststroke. Her time (1:11.71) was just off the school record she set Friday morning in the prelims (1:11.38)!
Bluffton will cap off its inaugural Heartland Conference Swimming Championship on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Beavers opened up a five-point lead over Manchester and a whopping 55-point spread between Bluffton and Hanover.
