Carl R. Treen worked for the Village of Bluffton
Carl R. Treen, 81, passed away February 21, 2022, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Carl was born May 30, 1940, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Fred and Ethel (Knott) Treen.
Carl served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 until 1962. He was a loyal marine, and he loved his country.
Carl retired from the Village of Bluffton after 30 plus years of dedication. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the VFW, the Bluffton Sportsmen's Club, a member of the Bluffton Golf Club golf, and the American Legion. Carl spent 35 years helping the Bluffton High School and Bluffton University football programs by running the down markers. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering, being ornery and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends on Wednesdays, traveling to different towns and catching up. He loved meeting knew people; he knew no strangers.
He is survived by his son; Earl (Tammy) Treen of Spencerville, his daughter; Michelle (Tony) Edgington of Bluffton, his companion and life partner; Pam Boutwell, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and special family members; Bill and Sue Maize, Chassidy (John) Downer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.
Services will be held February 26, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton with Tom Dearth to officiate the service. Visitation will take place prior to the service Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
