M. Maeola McClain–Fett, age 89, of Bluffton, Ohio, and formerly of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:45 a.m. at the Independence House of Fostoria.

Maeola was born on February 18, 1933 in Marseilles Township, Wyandot County to Lawrence and Edna (Carothers) Arnold.  She married Charles McClain on October 17, 1952 and he passed away on April 3, 1984. Maeola then married Maurice “Morris” Fett on June 14, 1997 and he passed away on October 14, 2009.

She is survived by a son, Michael McClain of Vanlue, and a daughter, Laura (Kevin) Cavitt of Findlay.  6 grandchildren, Nicole McClain of Upper Sandusky, Jamie McClain of Polk, Ohio, Brody Cavitt of Findlay, Sarah (Dustin) Tiell of Findlay, Hannah (Michael) Janis of Findlay, and Emma Cavitt of Findlay, along with 3 great grandchildren, Keith Butcher, Carly Butcher and Jeffrey Janis. Stepsons,  David (Mary) Fett, Robert (Sue) Fett and Edward (Denise) Fett, all of Bluffton, and a step- daughter, Carol (Larry) Hechler, Huntertown, Ind

Maeola is also survived by a brother, Robert (Pam) Arnold of Mt. Victory, and 2 sisters, Marie Sloat of Upper Sandusky, and Edith (Tom) Wagner of Kirby, a sister in law, Jocelyn Cancro of Upper Sandusky, and a very special friend, Orval Davis of Arlington, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a brother James Arnold, and a daughter in law, Cynthia McClain.

Maeola was a graduate of Morral High School and soon after her first marriage, went on to work for the former Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky, and then Sears in Findlay, where she worked for many years. 

She was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Bluffton, and while living in Upper Sandusky, she attended Emanuel United Church of Christ, and Trinity United Church  of Christ.

For hobbies, Maeola enjoyed doing crafts, tole and decorative painting, and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football.

Funeral services for Maeola McClain-Fett will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Lynn Passett officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitations will be on Monday, April 25, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
