Dorothy Downs worked for Tiffin Glasshouse
Dorothy “Dottie” Downs, age 84 of Bluffton, Ohio and formerly of Sycamore, Ohio died at 6:58 a.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Bluffton, Ohio. She was born on January 7, 1938 in Willard, Ohio to Estil and Rosie (Hackworth) Moore. She married Mahlon R. Downs Jr. on November 6, 1954 and he died December 19, 1975.
Surviving are a son, Sonny (Mikie) Downs, Carrollton, Georgia, five grandchildren, Damien (Kirsten) Downs, Fostoria, Ohio, Tori (Derek) Alva, McComb, Ohio, Jesse Downs, Carrollton, Georgia, Tiffany (Zach) Helland, Defiance, Ohio, Brandon (Nicole) Hemry, Lakewood, Ohio, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren plus one sister, Louella Poole, Willard, Ohio. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Monroe “Greene” Moore, Henry Moore, Ervin Moore, Lonnie Moore; two sisters, Margaret Moore and Betty Lou Moore; and daughter, Debra Smith.
Dorothy retired from the former Tiffin Glasshouse and previously was a member of the Eagles, Elks, and Moose Lodges in Willard and Tiffin, Ohio. For hobbies she loved gardening, playing cards, polka and line dancing, playing bingo and listening to old records.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
