Janice M. Shields worked for Mennonite Memorial Home

Janice M. Shields, 93, passed away under hospice care on June 11, 2022, at 5:17 a.m.
She was born June 17, 1928 in Columbus Grove, OH to William M. and Ruth (Fruchey) Bryan who preceded her in death. On November 21, 1948 she married Hiram Bucher who preceded her in death on February 11, 1993. On May 3, 1997 she married Marion "Sam" Shields who died December 26, 2012.
Janice graduated in 1946 from Columbus Grove High School. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. She was a church organist for 60 years and also played the organ at local nursing homes, weddings, and funerals.
Janice was employed at the Page Dairy Company, Triplett Corporation, and retired as administrative assistant from Mennonite Memorial Home in 1991. Janice assisted her husband Hiram on their farm west of Bluffton for 40 years.
She is survived as "second mom" by three loving daughters, Terry (Gary) Adams, Debra (Ron) Haines, and Wendy (Terry) Missler. Also surviving are eight step-grandchildren, Kurt (Kendahl) Adams, Kristi (Jay) Johnson, Kellie (Jason) Reeder, Brok (Jessica) Bagnall, Brittany (Bobby) Millard, Melissa (Adam) Steenrod, Travis (Amanda) Missler; 20 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her cat "Riley."
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Janice was preceded in death by her brother, William R. Bryan.
A private graveside service will take place at the Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery with Pastor Dick Potter officiating.
