Area dancers in Cleveland Cav pre-game this spring
Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre' of Ada will send 17 area dancers to Cleveland to dance Prime Time performance at 7 p.m. pre-game of the Cleveland Cavs vs. Chicago Bulls battle on Friday, April 18, according to Darcy Schneider of the studio.
"Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre' was invited back to Quickens Loans Arena to perform in this once in a lifetime performance for the second year in a row," she said.
Scheider submitted an audition tape to the Cavs and RIMDC was selected again for the 2010-2011 season.
Dancers are ages 10-18 years of age and are from Bluffton, Ada, Kenton and Lima. The group auditioned for their spot on the team in September, 2010.
Cheoroagraphy of Taio Cruz "Diamanmite" is directed by Jocelyn Sherman of Bluffton, assisted by Darcey Schneider.
Sherman has been dancing since she was two, dancing for Dancer's Elite Dance Studio. After graduation from Bluffton High School, she attended Ohio State Lima, finishing her degree in Columbus.
While in Columbus she studied many classes in the dance program at the OSU campus, which lead her to Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre'. There she started teaching Hip Hop to the middle school and high school Level in 2009.
In 2010 Sherman and staff members of RIMDC attended workshops with DEA of New York City where they learned new teaching techniques.
Sherman has also performed Center Court at Quicken Loans Arena when she was in high school. In the summer of 2010 she attended workshops for pre-audition of Cavs Girls Team 2010-2011. She made it through the semi-final round of he first-ever professional audition.
Tickets for the April 8 event in Cleveland are on sale now through Feb. 24. Price is $35 per ticket.
"RIMDC would like to offer a bus package again this year. The package will include bus ride, sack lunch, parking and game ticket," said Schneider. "We must have 40 passengers to cover cost of travel. Call Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre' for details 419-236-7651 or email [email protected].
