Findlay library to host international book discussion August 9
The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has announced a new program that unites Findlay with its friendship City, Kawaguchi, Japan via Zoom. The Kawaguchi Book Club will take place on August 9 at 7:30 p.m.
This discussion was organized by Dr. Hiroaki Kawamura of the University of Findlay, and Mr. Ken Ono of Kawaguchi, Japan. Members of the staff at Kawaguchi’s public library approached Dr. Kawamura to propose a discussion between their library and staff at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library.
The book chosen for the discussion is Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. The book is about a woman that works in a convenience store and is perfectly content with that, but everyone else around her expects more of her.
Because the program takes place on Zoom, those intending to participate will need to register at findlaylibrary.org through the Calendar tab. Once the calendar has opened, click on the Kawaguchi Book Club on August 9 for the registration form, complete the registration process, and a link to join the discussion will be forwarded to you. Please register before noon on the August 9 to be sent a link.
For more information on the program, please contact Melody Flick at [email protected].
