Bassitt joins relay heat; US men's 4x400m team advances in world championships
7/25 UPDATE: The final U.S. men's 4x400 relay team of Elija Godwin, Bryce Deadmon, Michael Norman and Champion Allison won gold on July 24.
Bluffton's Trevor Bassitt was asked to join the U.S. men's 4x400m relay team in one of two preliminary heats on Saturday, July 23. Running a time of 2:58.96, the team advances to finals on Sunday.
NBC Sports noted, "Fresh off of his bronze medal performance in the men's 400m hurdles final, Trevor Bassitt's excellent anchor leg helped Team USA advance to the finals of the 4x400 relay at Worlds."
The men's and women's 4X400m relays are the traditional closing events of the championships and will begin at 10:35 p.m. ET. The startlist does not name individual runners.
