Bluffton men's soccer vs. Mount. St. Joseph

The Bluffton University men's soccer team broke two school records on Wednesday, Oct. 5, in a stunning 6-1 win over Mount St. Joseph. For the first time in school history, the Beavers scored six goals in an HCAC matchup and they also secured a five-goal victory for the first time since joining the conference in 1998. Bluffton improved to 4-4-3 (2-1 HCAC) while the Lions fell to 3-10 (1-2 HCAC).
Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) and Leonardo Campos (Santiago, Chile/Campbellsville University) fueled the Beaver offense with two goals apiece on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at the Sears Complex. Elijah Grieser (Wauseon/Pettisville) and Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) both connected with the netting for a goal apiece. Andrew Ireland (Coshocton/River View) and Brycen Boyle (Middletown), Taynor and Zimmerman all added assists to their stat lines.
Bluffton net-minder Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay), tallied two saves in the victory, compared to six for the Lions. The Beavers outshot Mount 18-11 (12-3 on goal). The Lions forced one more corner kick (6-5), while the home team was whistled for one more foul (8-7).
The Bluffton men are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they welcome Anderson University to the Sears Athletix Complex. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. following the women's matchup with the Ravens.
