BHS Drama Club finds something funny about lockdown
Performances at 7:30 p.m. on November 11 and 12
The Bluffton High School Drama Club is preparing a comic play about the days of COVID lockdown. A brief preview of rehearsals of Still Stuck at Home had the Icon stifling laughs backstage while the cast, crew and directors worked on blocking, set arrangement and learning their lines.
The club provides these notes on the production: “Even though we’re not still sheltering in place due to Covid-19, it’s a shared experience that we will not soon forget. Still Stuck at Home was written by Brian Starchman, whose intent was to find some humor in the situation, for his own peace of mind.
“Join these hilarious families as they struggle to endure being stuck at home….together. How many family game nights can a teen endure? How are the pets holding up? Can Mom convince the kids to do their schoolwork or will they be doomed to a fifth year of high school? How do first dates and book clubs work while social distancing? And really, who is strong enough to endure more than one dad joke?”
Performances of the play are at 7:30 p.m. on November 11 and 12 on the Middle School stage. Doors will open at 6:30.
General admission tickets will be on sale at the door: $3.00 Adults, $1.00 Students.
