PGHS boys basketball loss to Ottoville

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team traveled to Ottoville for a highly anticipated Putnam County League match-up Saturday evening, January 7. The shots weren’t falling for the Rockets and the Big Green didn’t miss many–the Rockets were grounded with a final of 52-35.
The Rockets flew out to an early 8-5 lead following the first eight minutes of action.
The Big Green found their groove in the second period. Ottoville knotted things up at 16-16 midway through, and then took a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, eventually going up 26-23 by halftime.
In the second half, P-G had opportunities to climb back but they stumbled, as missed shots and turnovers started adding up. Their deficit ballooned to 42-30 by the end of the third quarter.
Aidan Harris led the Rocket’s offensive output with 14 points while Colin Harris added 10 points. Jake Maag chipped in with 6 points as Owen Huffman and Aiden Morris hit one shot each from the floor for their 2 points, and finally Nate Maag made one free throw for his lone point.
Next weekend, the Rockets will host Vanlue (3-6, 1-3 BVC) on Friday night January 13 for a Blanchard Valley Conference showdown. On Saturday, P-G will travel to Delphos St. John’s (7-2) for a non-conference battle.
