Robert L. Douglas was a veteran of the U.S. Army
Robert L. Douglas, 81, passed away January 6, 2023, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Robert was born December 30, 1941 in Quincy, Ohio, to Elmer and Marie (Wooley) Douglas who preceded him in death. On August 31, 1974 he married Linda (Hickman) Douglas who survives.
Robert was a graduate of Sidney High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the True Word Tabernacle Church of Bluffton and the American Legion. Robert was currently the Cairo Village Council President. He was a hardworking man who, above all, loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Douglas of Cairo; six children, David Douglas of Illinois, Tina (Gary) Sowders of Jackson Center, Ohio, Jimmy Douglas of Sidney, Ohio, Tammy (Mark) Meihls of Elida, Kathy Wissman of Troy, Ohio, and Matthew (Sharon) Douglas of Bath Township; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five children, Robert Douglas, Jr., Shawn Douglas, James Douglas, and two infant sons; a sister, Clara Richardson; and a grandson, Mark Anthony II.
Services will be held January 11, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton. Pastor Ray Erickson to officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery of Elida following the service. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
