By Matt M. Stutz
The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team got back on the winning track Friday evening Jan. 13 and remained unbeaten in the Blanchard Valley Conference. The Rockets jumped ahead early and never looked back, overwhelming the Vanlue Wildcats by a final of 78-31.
After one quarter, P-G had a slim 14-10 lead. The second quarter was the back breaker for the Wildcats. The Rockets exploded for 32 points, taking a 46-20 lead into halftime.
P-G continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Vanlue 32-11 over the final two periods. The Rockets were hot from the outside: they connected on ten 3-pointers.
A trio of Rockets finished in double digits: Colin and Aidan Harris led the charge with 19 and 18 points respectively, with Colin knocking down four 3-point shots. Jake Maag scored 10 points from his center position.
P-G also got 8 points from Derek Maag, Zach Neuenschwander popped in 7 points, Nate Maag added 6 points, Nate Walker chipped in with 5 points, Aiden Morris finished with 3 points, and Owen Huffman closed out the scoring with 2 points.
The Rockets have a big non-conference match-up on January 14, when they travel to Delphos, to take on the St. John’s Bluejays and their fabulous freshmen.
