By Matt M. Stutz
The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team hosted the McComb Panthers Friday evening February 10 at the Launch Pad for their final Blanchard Valley Conference game of the season.
In a game that started out slow, Pandora-Gilboa kept up the defensive pressure, limiting McComb to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters of action, propelling them to a 64-36 BVC win.
Following a 11-7 first quarter lead, the Rockets slowly pulled away, going up by ten at halftime, 26-16.
Coming out of the locker room, P-G’s offense started clicking in the third quarter, when they outscored the Panthers 20-8. The Rockets were 46-24 going into the final eight minutes.
A trio of Rockets reached double digit scoring, led by Aidan Harris’s game high 16 points. Nate Maag was the first one off the bench for the Rockets, adding 14 points and Derek Maag finished his night with 13.
Colin Harris had a solid night scoring 8 points. Jake Maag and Aidan Morris each chipped in with 4 points, while Owen Huffman and Zach Neuenschwander both hit one shot from the floor for their 2 points.
The Rockets (16-4, 7-2 BVC, 3-2 PCL) will play next on Saturday night February 11, when Fort Jennings comes to town. The P-G season finale will be Thursday Feb. 16, when they travel to Continental. Both games are PCL play.
