Painter to give demonstration, talk Jan. 28
Bluffton University's Grace Albrecht Gallery will host two events Friday, Jan. 28, with painter Andre' Martinez Reed, whose exhibition of oil paintings, "Etudes in Liberation on Paper: Hands, Heart, Mind and Rhythm," is now on display in the gallery.
Reed, director of the Henry Gregg Gallery in Brooklyn, N.Y., will present a painting demonstration and gallery talk from 8-9:50 a.m. that day.
Later, from 4-6 p.m., he will be the guest at a reception in the gallery, located in Bluffton's Sauder Visual Arts Center. Both events are free and open to the public, as is the exhibition, which continues through Jan. 29.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Reed's work is influenced in part by jazz music, which he has also performed as a drummer with avant-garde jazz artist Cecil Taylor.
