Pirate tennis sweeps Defiance

The Bluffton High School boys tennis team defeated visiting Defiance 5-0 Monday evening, April 3.
The Pirate record improved to 2-2 with the one-sided victory. All five matches were won in straight sets as Bluffton went 10-0 in sets. Defiance is 1-2.
Senior Braeden Ackerman beat senior Kolton Greear 6-3, 6-4 at first singles to start the match out strongly for the hosts.
Pirate sophomore Branson Hilty ground out a victory with a third-set, 10-point tiebreak win at second singles. He defeated Defiance senior Carter Campbell 7-5, 4-6, 7-3.
Junior Wade Ginther swept junior Jackson Honsberger 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
Pirate freshmen Grady Coonfare and Isaiah Kohli took down the Defiance duo of Zack Hanson and Carmine Castenadall 6-4, 6-3 at first doubles.
Bluffton junior Ayden Diller and freshman Nick Lovett hammered the freshman tandem of Aden Hill and Brayden Stelzer 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.
The Pirate netters are slated to host Napoleon Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
