Free "Public Enemies" showing at Shannon Theatre on Aug. 12
Shannon Theatre will give a free 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, showing of the 2009 film “Public Enemies” starring Johnny Depp.
The free matinee is part of the Bluffton History Day events, recalling the 90th anniversary of John Dillinger’s 1933 robbery of Citizens National Bank of Bluffton. Dillinger robbed the Bluffton bank at noon on Aug. 14, 1933, escaping with $2,100.
The R-rated movie’s plot line involved the FBI’s attempts to take down notorious American gangsters Depp as John Dillinger, Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd, and Stephen Graham as Baby Face Nelson.
Others in this movie include Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, Christian Stolte as Charles Makley, Jason Clarke as “Red” Hamilton, Carey Mulligan and Carol Slayman and Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis.
