Mildred Lugibihl was a farm wife
Mildred “Millie” (Schutz) Lugibihl, 88, died on September 10, 2023 at Willow Ridge-Betty House, Bluffton. She was born in Putnam County on March 27, 1935, to Albert and Irene (Cherry) Schutz. She lived nearly all her life on the family farm.
Millie married Roy N. Lugibihl on June 23, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2000. She is survived by her children Jodi (Dave Miller) Diller of Bluffton, Jenny (Jeff) Fish of Findlay, Jeff (Chrissy) Lugibihl of Pandora, and Jay Lugibihl of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren Erin (Ryan) Suderman, Sarah (Uko) Etim, Elizabeth (Jesse) Suter, Katie (Brian) Smith, Anne (Blaine) Wells, Laura (Robbie) Rucki, Jana (Jim Eckel) Fish, Owen (Kendra) Lugibihl, Grant (Hannah) Lugibihl, Lydia (Link Hergenrather) Lugibihl, eight great-grandchildren and more on the way. Other survivors include four sisters, Janice (Clay) Stallworth, Virginia (Friedrich) Saam, Agnes (Andre) DaCosta and Julia (Vidal) Jimenez and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Steiner, a brother, Albert James Schutz, son-in-law Gordon Diller, and a special aunt, Elizabeth Schutz, who helped raise Millie and her six siblings after the untimely death of their mother.
Millie was a member of Grace Mennonite Church in Pandora where she served in many capacities over the years. She was a long-time member of the church choir. She served on the Pandora-Gilboa school board and worked part-time at the Pandora Medical Center for twenty years. But her life’s work was running the family farm with Roy and living a life dedicated to her family, friends and church family.
Visitation will be held at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton on Friday, September 22 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service at Grace Mennonite Church will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24. 2023. A private burial will be held in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Pandora.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mission work of Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th Street, PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
