BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School baseball team shut out visiting Arlington in both games to sweep a non-conference doubleheader Saturday, April 27.

Bluffton won the opener 3-0 and took the nightcap, 10-0. Strong Pirate pitching held Arlington to no runs and allowed just four hits over 12 innings of the twinbill, with no extra-base hits.

The Pirates improved to 5-7 with the sweep, while Arlington fell to 3-13 with the losses.

In game one, the Pirates scored two runs in the second and made it stand up in a 3-0 shutout. 

Bluffton added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to win by three.

Garret Bogart hurled a complete-game three-hit shutout to earn the pitching win. He struck out nine and walked five. 

Bogart aided his own cause with a triple, a single and two runs batted in. He also stole three bases.

Shortstop Eachus contributed a single, one run and one RBI.

Third baseman Evan Speicher added a hit and scored a run. Luke Jebsen singled and catcher Kerry Wright tallied a run.

Braeden Jordan stole two of the nine bases the Pirates swiped.

Bluffton out-hit Arlington, 5-3. The hosts left nine on base while the Devils stranded seven.

Bogart threw 116 pitches in his seven-inning win, 67 of which were strikes or in play.

Quinn Eachus fired a five-inning one-hitter to shut out the Devils and earn the nightcap win. He walked three and struck out three.

Bluffton led 1-0 after three innings. The Pirates blew the game open with a seven-run fourth inning outburst. They added two runs in the home fifth to invoke the 10-run mercy rule. 

Pirate left fielder Jebsen sparked the offense with two doubles and a triple from the leadoff spot. He scored a run and drove in one. 

Center fielder Landen Worcester slapped three singles, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Brody Anderson and Jordan each singled and scored a run.

The Pirates swiped 12 bases. Worcester stole three while Jordan, Anderson and Butler each swiped a pair of bags.

Bluffton out-hit Arlington, 9-1. The Red Devils committed three errors, while Bluffton made none.

Both teams stranded five runners.
