Shannon to compete in 2024 World Masters Athletics Championships

Have you spotted a new lawn sign with a smiling woman decked out in medals? That’s Janean Shannon, a masters heptathlon athlete who will soon be competing in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The championships will take place from August 13-25, with more than 8,000 participants and 16,000 events.
As a heptathlon athlete, Shannon will compete in the 60-65 age group and compete August 14-15 in 80 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters, long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
Shannon’s individual events are:
August 13 - Shot put
August 17 - Long jump
August 19 - 200 meter preliminaries
August 20 - 200 meter semifinals and finals (if advances)
August 22 - Javelin
August 24 - 80 meter hurdles semifinals and finals (if advances)
