Pirate boys soccer clawed by Eagles

FINDLAY __ The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team fell behind early and lost 4-1 at powerhouse Liberty-Benton in a non-league match Tuesday evening, September 10.
The Pirate record dropped to 2-6 with the defeat. The Eagles improved to 7-1 after the win.
L-B led 2-1 at halftime and added two more goals after intermission to put the game out of reach.
Eagle ace Trevor Ferris found the back of the net just 80 seconds into the game, and L-B never trailed.
Aiden Hatch doubled the Eagle lead to 2-0 by scoring off a Ferris assist with 16:08 left in the first half.
With 2:42 remaining before halftime, Bluffton cut their deficit in half when Levi Antrim scored what turned out to be the lone Pirate goal.
Eagle Lincoln Holler scored in the 45th minute to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead. Then with 17:31 remaining to play, Jairo Colina scored off another Ferris assist to provide a three-goal cushion for the hosts.
Pirate keeper Alex Davis made two saves in goal. Ben Jenkins was credited with three stops for the Eagles.
Ferris assisted on two goals and scored one to pace the victors.
Bluffton tries to get back on track when they host much-improved WBL foe Kenton (3-2-2) Thursday, Sept. 12 at Steinmetz Field. The Wildcats lost 3-2 at Bath Tuesday evening.
The Pirates (1-0 NWC) then visit local league rival Allen East (1-5-1, 0-0-1 NWC) Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
