Pirate boys basketball pounds Panthers

PAULDING – The Bluffton High School boys basketball team jumped to a big early lead and drilled Paulding 71-39 in a non-league road game Tuesday, December 17.
The Pirates improved to 3-0 with the blowout win in their first road game. Bluffton has won its three games by a combined total of 127 points (42.3 ppg). Paulding fell to 1-4 after the home defeat.
The Pirates raced to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter and never were headed. They extended the margin to 38-16 at halftime. Bluffton outscored the Panthers 33-23 after intermission to win by 32.
Kain Wright led the Pirates with 17 points. He netted 12 of his markers in the second half on six deuces.
Terron Boblitt nailed three triples to total 15 points. Ten of his 15 came in the first half.
Blake Sommers tallied 14 points. Marek Donaldson tallied seven of his 12 points in the second stanza.
Blake Rhonehouse led Paulding with 12 points.
Bluffton sank 22 two-pointers and drained seven trifectas. The Pirates converted six of 10 free throws (60 percent).
Paulding canned 13 deuces and connected on three triples. The Panthers converted four of seven foul shots (57 percent).
Bluffton hosts Riverdale (3-4) Friday, December 20.
